Although our 10-week Medical Swahili course provides a solid foundation, it is not enough to cover every possible medical conversation you may encounter. That is where our Medical Swahili Handbook comes in.
We are currently working on a English-Swahili version of our Handbook. We hope to have it ready by the summer of 2027. Until than we only offer our handbook in Dutch-Swahili.
Using the same clear and logical structure that you are familiar with from our courses, we have developed the Medical Swahili–Dutch Handbook. It begins with a concise summary of Swahili grammar, followed by a systematic guide to medical history taking, physical examination, and discussing diagnosis and treatment with patients.
Rather than providing literal translations from Dutch, we have chosen the expressions and terminology that doctors in East Africa actually use when communicating with their patients.
The handbook concludes with a practical Swahili–Dutch and Dutch–Swahili glossary, making it a valuable reference in everyday clinical practice.
